Alien cake anyone??

26th Mar 2020

This week in Primary 2 we would have been making an ‘alien cake’ as part of our World around us topic.  We would have been looking at the following aspects during the process of baking the cake:

  • the list of ingredients needed
  • the list of utensils needed
  • getting the children to help weigh and mix the ingredients
  • look at how the mixture was changing at every stage
  • checking the time that it took to bake the cake
  • getting children to help decorate the cake
  • write a simple set of instructions for how to bake the cake.

For any of you who fancy trying this at home as part of your home learning here are the ingredients and recipe!

9oz self raising flour

8oz caster sugar

8 oz margarine

4 egg

green food colouring

whipping cream

Method:

Preheat oven to 170 degrees and grease two 7 inch cake tins. Sieve the flour and add the sugar, add the butter and whizz in a mixer or with a hand whisk. Add one egg at a time and whizz, add the food colouring and whizz. Split the mixture equally between the cake tins. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Beat the cream and add to the middle (with jam if you prefer). Decorate you ‘alien’ any way you like. Eat and enjoy!😀
