Today in St. John's Primary School and Carnlough Community Nursery we were delighted to welcome visitors from Primary Science Teaching Trust.  Having received her award in Edinburgh the Chair of the Trustees Mike Rance came from Manchester to present a personal award to Mrs Scott.

Mr Rance commended Mrs Scott on her achievements and reinforced how fortunate St. John's and Carnlough Community Nursery were to have two award winners as Mrs Haughey had also received this award in 2009.

This means that Mrs Scott becomes a Fellow of PSTT and is eligible to access funding for projects to promote Science.

The school community gathered for a lovely assembly to congratulate Mrs Scott on her achievement and let her know how proud we all are of her commitment to this area of the curriculum in the Nursery and throughout the school.

We have got a new school entrance out the front of the school which will be accessible from Monday 2nd September. We would ask you to use this entrance instead of the lane entrance.

'Have Your Say' Evening

On Thursday 12th September 2019 St John's s P. S and Carnlough Community Nursery opened their doors to parents to provide an opportunity to meet staff and Board of Governors. We celebrated our Catholic ethos, had an update from the Chair on Area Planning and completed questionnaires to guide the School Development Plan for 2019-2022. Presentations included input from staff, parents, governors with the highlight being our pupils. Parents then had time to visit classrooms where the staff and children demonstrated the range of curriculum opportunities available throughout the school.
It was a busy evening prompting governors to email their appreciation today stating " The event shows the true drive of all the staff ...."
"The students present were a credit to all as they spoke with confidence and interacted brilliantly with the visitors."
The Parent Governor , Mrs Debbie Burns spoke passionately about her confidence in St Johns and Carnlough Community Nursery.

We would like to thank the parents who supported this evening. #parentsaretheprimaryeducators
