St John's Primary School, Carnlough

Welcome

Welcome to St Johns Primary School website . St John's is a happy, family environment where the entire team work to develop every child's potential.

The school is a co-educational maintained primary school and we educate within a caring Catholic ethos. Children of all faiths and none are welcome in our school and their beliefs respected.

Carnlough Community Nursery is an integral part of our school community, situated in our school grounds and governed by our Board of Governors.
St John's Primary School opened in 1971 and in March 2021 will celebrate our 50th anniversary!

Despite the Covid 19 pandemic our team are working tirelessly to ensure we maintain a safe environment for your child/children to access their education. Staff are committed to encouraging and supporting every child to achieve their best.
It is extremely important to us that we work in partnership with parents and community and we are proud that so many families and local businesses work with us to ensure this happens.

Communication is vital in developing these relationships and everyone is encouraged to bring their ideas and suggestions to the leadership team and Board of Governors.

Hopefully you will find our website informative and easy to navigate. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any queries about St John's Primary School and Carnlough Community Nursery.

Contact Details

The school is updating all their contact information. Please complete your child's contact details form and send it back in to your child's class teacher as soon as possible.  Every family MUST complete one of the newly issued forms.

Read, Read, Read!

It is so important that children develop the love of reading, no app can replace the lap! We would ask you to encourage your children to read as much as possible at home as this is proven to make a huge difference in their academic ability.

Homework is an important part of your child's learning journey and it's vital that you as parents connect with their learning, do you get involved in your child's homework activities?

Social Distancing

As recommended by the Public Health Agency we would like to remind all parents to respect social distancing when dropping of and collecting their children from the school grounds.

Many thanks

Seesaw Family App

The school is launching a new app called Seesaw. Seesaw is an app which gives you real-time glimpses into your child's school day. It gives you an opportunity to support your child's learning at home, see your child's work, and celebrate progress. An instruction sheet along with a QR code has been sent home with your child and a video has been uploaded to our Facebook page on how to create an account. We would encourage ALL parents to make use of this app.  If anyone has any problems getting connected please contact the school.
